Lawmakers are slated to debate just one piece of legislation today — the Proceeds of Crime Amendment Act, 2012, which would give the authorities the power to seize ill-gotten gains derived from the illicit drug trade. The new law would clear the legal path for police to seize the “bling” and other valuables derived from drug dealing and related crimes in Bermuda.Parliament may decide to debate a take note motion brought by Charlie Swan of the United Bermuda Party on the Ombudsman's Special Report on the process of granting Special Development Orders.
