Power restored to 3,000 homes

Power has now been restored to about 3,000 homes after an outage caused by a problem with one of Belco's diesel engines.A Belco spokeswoman said in a statemen this afternoon: "At approximately 2.01pm today two diesel engines in the East Power Station at Belco's Central Plant tripped, causing the system to shed load, which resulted in approximately 3,000 customers losing power in locations across the Island."Belco's Operations Centre technicians and crews immediately set about restoring power to affected customers. All power was restored approximately 49 minutes later, at 2.50pm. Investigation into the cause is ongoing. "
