Cuts will be made
April 19, 2012Dear Sir,After many years of somewhat questionable decisions, policies and legislation that have placed Bermuda in a financial toilet, the PLP are coming out with a slew of programmes, rules and most importantly, giveaways on borrowed money. Must be a general election coming. However, any voter who buys into their current largesse should be aware that most PLP giveaways are clawed back after an election. Also, no matter what either political party says, whoever wins is also going to have to cut back the Civil Service to a level we can all afford, and soon. That means programme cuts, major layoffs or three to four-day weeks, with proportional pay, for the majority who are not essential or a significant across the board pay cut. We can no longer afford to pay the high level of salaries seen advertised, particularly with zero accountability, and now is the time to start trimming the fat, the sky-high pay cheques and the unbelievably generous pensions. People will work for less; ask anybody who has lost a job recently.STRUGGLING TAX PAYERPembroke
