No warm welcome
April 6, 2012Dear Sir,What a wonderful welcome we got upon arrival at the airport Monday evening, April 2.The New York and the Miami flights landed within minutes of each other on this windy and rainy evening. To great us, were a total of four working Immigration Officers and two chatting ones. The two chatting officers leaned against the back wall and occasionally glanced at the busy waiting lines, then disappeared. The four working officers were distributed as follows: Two for the returning Bermudian and Status Bermudian line, which moved quickly, and one each for returning residents and tourists. Both those long lines moved at a snail’s pace. The returning residents are of course expatriates and PRCs, so not unfamiliar with shabby treatment. But boy, did the tourists “feel the love” at that warm and thoughtful welcoming to Bermuda! I guess it shows exactly how tourism is valued by the Department of Immigration.NO LOVE FELT AT THE AIRPORTDevonshire
