St David’s defender Aaron Lugo knows his side will have to put their best foot forward in their relegation showdown against Boulevard at BAA Field tonight.The two clubs are level on points, eight, and three points back of Southampton Rangers in the race to get out of the drop zone.It is an ideal situation for both clubs to have fate in their own hands, although Lugo believes his club shouldn’t be in the position they are.“It is a very important game for both clubs and our destiny is our hands so there is all to play for,” said Lugo.“The coach has been keeping us focused, it is about winning one game and moving on. You can’t win the second game if you haven’t played the first.“It is one game at a time, it is win or go home so we know what we have to do.“We want to get the points but the ideal situation would be to have got the results earlier in the season . We ended up only getting one point or even a loss when in good situations.”St David’s beat Blazers in their first meeting at Lords 2-0 and need a repeat which would propel the side away from their rivals.With their last game being a local derby against St George’s, the Islanders don’t want to rely on other results to go their way to determine their fate given that Boulevard face off against Rangers.For Lugo, survival would be a morale booster, not just for the club but the community as a whole who follow ther team.“It is what it is right and we have to learn from our mistakes and win our last two games.“Survival is important to everyone in St David’s, it is a big confidence booster for everyone considering we are a cricketing community. Tobe in the top flight is great and we want to stay there.“We aren’t as mature as a lot of the other clubs, we have young players who make mistakes but we are in a position to help ourselves and it starts tonight with a win.”Rangers welcome Devonshire Cougars to Southampton Oval tomorrow knowing that one point could prove crucial to their survival hopes depending on tonight’s result, given they have a far superior goal difference over St David’s and Blazers.Champions Dandy Town make the short trek to Bernard Park to tackle North Village while PHC travel to Wellington Oval to clash with St George’s.
