A Bermudian veterinarian is making headlines in Australia after saving a cat in an unusual case.Dr Charna Stowe, now practicing at the Whyalla Veterinary Clinic in South Australia, was recently treating a cat brought in with an abscess on its neck, but noticed that it did not appear like a normal abscess caused by fighting.After giving the animal an anaesthetic so that she could clean the abscess, she discovered a double strand of cotton in the wound attached to a 5cm long needle.Speaking to the Whyalla News, Dr Stowe said: “I knew immediately the cat was in trouble.”The cat underwent surgery to remove the needle, which was stuck in muscle near the cat’s shoulder, and has since recovered from the injury.
