Guest house burglar was on probation prosecutor

A 22-year-old St George’s man caught inside a guest cottage has appeared in Magistrates’ Court, charged with entering as a trespasser and stealing a banana.However, the court heard that Tyevon Bean had also placed a laptop computer in a knapsack at the time of the guests’ return to the room.Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke told the court that the couple returned to their Secretary Lane, St George’s guest cottage at 2pm on December 28, having secured the premises that morning. They opened the front door and surprised an intruder inside.Questioned by the couple, Bean told them he was a student on a science project.However, the visitors noticed that items in their room were in disarray, and the computer had been placed in a bag.Bean was arrested and admitted trespassing. Ms Clarke told the court Bean is currently on probation for stealing.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report, and remanded Bean into custody for a return to court on February 24.
