Estwanik completes clean sweep with Half-Marathon win

Chris Estwanik capped off his best ever Bermuda Marathon Weekend by storming to victory in the Half-Marathon to complete a clean sweep of wins.Not content with rewriting the history books by becoming only the second local runner behind Cal Bean to win the 10K on Saturday, Estwanik set a personal best in the Half-Marathon in a time of one hour, eight minutes and 35 seconds.The Island's top road runner also triumphed in the Bermuda Triangle Challenge Mile on Friday night to claim the overall series.In the absence of a strong elite field, Bermuda's runners were able to shine in yesterday's Half-Marathon with teenager Sean Trott coming second, stopping the clock in 1:12.02, and local policeman Stephen Allen placing third in 1:13.05.Panamanian Rolanda Bell followed up Saturday's 10K win by cruising to victory in yesterday's Women's Half-Marathon race, finishing in 1:20.48.Madrea Hyman, of Jamaica finished second in 1:22.05, while Ashley Estwanik was the first local female across the finish line, coming third overall in 1:25.53.Elite guest runner Tesfaye Dube cruised to victory in the Marathon to complete an impressive Bermuda Marathon Weekend double at the first attempt.The Ethiopian, who resides in New York, covered the 26.2 mile race course in 2:24.17 to add the marathon title to the Elite Men's Mile crown he captured on Friday.Fellow countrymen Fikadu Lemma (2:25.59) and Dereje Hailegiorgis (2:32.43) placed second and third respectively as Ethiopian runners made a clean sweep on the podium.Claiming a second Bermuda Marathon Weekend women's marathon title this year was Russia's Elana Orlova who covered the course in 2:46.34 to shave more than a minute off her previous fastest time (2:47.26) in this event.Ethiopia's Mikides Bekele (3:06.27) and Muliye Gurmu (3:06.32) rounded off the podium finishers in the women's field
