Motoring tips
Q How often should I check my oil and tyres?A Once a week. You should do tyres from cold. There is usually a data sticker on a door panel or the glove compartment with the recommended psi (pounds per square inch) level on it. Overinflated tyres wear in the centre and underinflated tyres wear on the sides, both of which can be dangerous. Oil should be checked on a level surface so that you can see the correct level on the dipstick. It should be between the minimum and maximum or upper and lower marks. Not enough oil can cause engine seizure and too much can result in blue smoke being emitted from your engine and can destroy the catalytic converter and engine. The advice on both is to consult the owner’s handbook.Q How often should you have your vehicle serviced?A Follow the manufacturer’s recommendation or check with your dealer.
