Bad for your company

December 6, 2011Dear Sir,As this recession continues, it’s best for you to be aware that more companies are going to downsize. When companies downsize they do so because business is slow and sales are down. Not enough money coming in to maintain all of their staff, some are going to be made redundant. Who do you think is going to be the first to be made redundant? Who do you think is the worst employee:1) The employee that is late several times a week?2) The employ that steals.3) The employee that just barely does what’s necessary to keep his job?If you chose #3 you are right. Employee #1 you can write him up for being late and fire him after the third time. Employee #2 you can fire him immediately.Employee #3 He is always on time: leaves on time: just does what he is supposed to do when he is being supervised. when there are no bosses around, he goofs off, chats with his friends for long periods of time or speaks to his friends on his cellphone or uses the company’s computer to send personal e-mails. You see why this man is bad for your company, as he sets a bad example for the new employee and older employees.Another excuse you often hear is: I’m a Bermudian I have a right to this job. There is an old saying: Being Bermudian doesn’t entitle you to that job. Believe me when I say this. If an employee is good he will always be the last to be made redundant, as his employer feels he is a valued employee and does not want to lose him to someone else. Employee #1, #2, #3 will be the first to go. I hope this letter will enlighten you as how an employer looks at you.ERNEST M DECOUTOPembroke
