Tagging contract is worth $235,000

A contract for a one-year electronic monitoring pilot project for tracking suspects and criminals went to Bermuda Security Group for $235,000, according to Justice Minister Kim Wilson.In a Ministerial Statement, Sen Wilson said funding for the programme had been identified in the Confiscated Assets Fund.She added: “However, to date no costs have been paid under the contract, as we work to ensure that the legislative framework which underpins the use of this system is in place.”Three local companies vied for the programme, which the Minister said will monitor offenders in pretrial and post-trial phases.
