Minister helps promote eMonday
With sales incentives looming large in the run-up to Christmas, Economy and Trade Minister Patrice Minors has called on local businesses to take advantage of ‘eMonday’ on December 5.Last year, 43 businesses used the online shopping event to offer sales discounts. The eMonday site drew 1,200 overseas and local visitors.Participating businesses must be able to accept orders online, or accept orders online with the ability to provide full online payments. To take part, eTailers must also offer a discount or promotion on eMonday.Businesses may sign on at www.eMonday.bm. Twenty are currently signed on.The event is sponsored by the Department of E-Commerce, within the Ministry of Business Development and Tourism.The Department has found that online shopping is one of the main uses for the internet in Bermuda, with 35 percent of users surveyed last year reporting that they regularly use the net to shop for local goods and services.
