Twenty out of 21 primary and middle public school teachers gained a Cambridge International Certificate after taking a course this summer.The 14- to 16- week scheme encourages teachers to refresh their approach to teaching and learning and continue their professional development.Six of the 20 received distinction grades, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education.Minister Dame Jennifer Smith stated: “This was a very comprehensive, rigorous yet innovative training programme which we see as an ideal avenue for anyone involved in a teaching or training role.“The certification programme is based on a range of relevant professional activities to match the particular needs and context of candidates.“The practical work is overseen by official observers, who report their assessments, along with complete assignments to Cambridge for grading.“Our teachers persevered through their studies while teaching the first year of the Cambridge curriculum.“They were able to meet the deadlines and work within the confines of a meticulous and disciplined certificate programme, and we are tremendously pleased with the outcome.“On behalf of the Ministry of Education, I congratulate each of our teaching professionals on their success.”
