Sensitivity and tragedyNovember 3, 2011Dear Sir,I just read your article, “Shooting victim loses baby” on the RG online. Perhaps as I’m currently seven months pregnant this story hit home more than it ordinarily would. I understand that this headline is sensational in that it increases readership and sells papers, and yes it was presented as evidence during the trial. However I’m somehow left to reflect on how this poor young woman, Ms Kuchler, must be feeling today as her personal tragedy has become everyone’s breakfast and lunch discussion. I think she has suffered enough and that it was in poor taste to have this very unfortunate situation as a weekend headline. Surely there were other aspects of the story that could have been highlighted.For what it’s worth, I respectfully request that you be a bit more sensitive in your journalism / reporting going forward.ONLINE READERWarwick
