Gales predicted for the weekend
People are being urged to keep an eye on the weather as forecasters predict gale this weekend.A Government statement said: “The Minister of National Security Wayne Perinchief would like to advise the public to keep an eye on the weather as a gale warning has been issued for Saturday night and Sunday by the Bermuda Weather Service.“Winds are expected to reach between 30 and 40 knots from the East and Southeast with gusts of up to 50 knots. Long periods of rain are expected on Saturday and seas can be expected to reach 20ft on Sunday. At this time, there is low potential for additional strengthening.“Mr Perinchief would like to remind the public that hurricane season does not end until November 30 and the official site for any information regarding closures of the Causeway is www.emobermuda.com.”
