Sims misses cut after nightmare last hole

A double bogey on his final hole cost Michael Sims dearly at the Nationwide Tour’s Children Hospital Classic.Looking certain to make the cut, Sims missed out by a single shot after carding a seven at the par-five 18th hole on the Black Creek Mountain course in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was was the third week in a row that the Bermudian had failed to get into weekend play.Sims was high up the leaderboard after Thursday’s first round when carded a five-under 67 which included six birdies and just one bogey. But it all went horribly wrong in the second round when he shot a two-over 74, even though he was one-under on the front nine. All his trouble came on the back nine where he dropped two shots before his final hole disaster. It now looks certain he will have to return to the PGA Q School next month where players attempt to earn their cards for both the PGA and the Nationwide Tours.
