A Pembroke man was fined in Magistrates’ Court this morning after admitting he pushed and swore at officers trying to search him.Richard Judge, 57, said he lashed out because he was drunk and it was the second time he had been stopped for a search in a matter of minutes.The court heard that officers were carrying out searches on Point Pleasant Road just after 1am on Sunday, when they saw Judge.They noticed he smelled of alcohol and attempted to search him.Judge began shouting profanities and shoved one of the officers, causing him to fall back.He then told the officer: “F*** you, you b****. I will push my penis in your a**.”Today Judge pleaded guilty to assault, violently resisting arrest and using offensive words.He said he was heavily intoxicated at the time, and frustrated because had been stopped for a search only 20 minutes earlier.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $500 for violently resisting arrest and another $500 for assaulting an officer.Calling Judge’s words “particularly obnoxious”, he fined the defendant $1,000 for using offensive words, adding: “I don’t know why you would want to do that to the police officer.”
