Fake $100 notes are being passed at stores around the Island, along with counterfeit US cash, prompting a warning from police. The forgeries are based on the older Bermuda $100 notes, rather than the new version.A fish-shaped watermark just to the left of the metallic security thread, and a silver ship to the right of the note, can help merchants quickly identify valid currency.Fake notes are mostly generated from printers, police said, and their ink will run if wet.It is an offence to pass on counterfeit currency, as well as to possess, copy or manufacture it.Useful website: www.bma.bm.
