Tropical Storm Katia has been classified as a potential threat to Bermuda but meteorologists continue to predict it will pass well to the south of the Island.However, the Bermuda Weather Service said Bermuda can expect 30 knot winds later on Tuesday and through Wednesday as the storm reaches it closest point to the Island.As of 6pm today, the closest point of approach to Bermuda was projected to be 310 nautical miles to the south at 6pm on Tuesday.On Tuesday, winds are projected to be 15 to 20 knots gusting to 30 knots early, gradually increasing to 20 to 30 knots with gusts to 40 knots by the evening. Seas inside the reef are expected to be 2 to 4 feet and 8 to 14 ft outside the reef. On Wednesday winds are expected to continue to be 20 to 30 kts gusting to 40 kts, easing to 15 to 25 kts with gusts to 35 kts later. Seas inside the reef are expected to remain 2 to 4 ft and 10 to 16 ft outside the reef.At 6pm, the storm was 859 nautical miles southeast of Bermuda, moving west-northwest at nine knots. It was packing winds of 60 knots, gusting to 75 knots.
