HWP fire investigation continues
Fire investigators are continuing to collect information as they probe the cause of this month’s HWP fire.Lieutenant Wenda Roberts, spokeswoman for Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, yesterday said officers would take another week or two to determine what started the blaze.Fifty percent of HWP’s operational capacity was destroyed after half of its site caught fire, gutting its body and spray centre, car and bike showrooms and administration offices.Lt Roberts said the investigation team is currently interviewing HWP employees and gathering information from the scene. It’s understood they will be speaking to all 50 staff that were working in the paint and body shop at the time. It was initially thought this would make around a week; the fire happened on Monday, August 8.The Royal Gazette previously reported early indications suggested the fire may have been due to a faulty fuse box in one of the spray painting booths.Investigators are carrying out research about that equipment, according to Lt Roberts.
