Police seized a loaded gun after a vehicle chase in Southampton in the early hours of yesterday.A spokeswoman said the incident began around 2am when officers responded to a reported disturbance at a South Road, Southampton establishment.“Police were alerted to a 26-year-old Southampton man who was acting suspiciously. At the conclusion of a short vehicle pursuit, the man and his vehicle were detained and searched, following which a loaded firearm was seized,” said the spokeswoman.“He was arrested and detained pending further police investigations. There were no injuries reported.”Police declined to identify the Southampton establishment in question.The recovered gun brings the total number of firearms taken off the streets this year to six.Police encouraged anyone with information about the incident, or any gun in Bermuda, to call the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
