Arrests after police find heroin, cocaine and cannabis

Two men were arrested after police discovered a ?very substantial? amount of heroin, cocaine and cannabis at a Warwick residence this morning.Assistant Commissioner David Mirfield told reporters at the scene that the arrests were the ?culmination of a lengthy police investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs into Bermuda?.One of the arrested men could be seen in handcuffs outside the house as officers searched and photographed the residence. It is unclear whether the men are the occupants of the house where the drugs were found. The arrests came hours after police found a large quantity of cannabis plants in Sandy?s. Mr Mirfield said the two investigations were not related.A large number of plants - believed to be about 115 - were found growing in a wooded area in Kitchener Close, Boaz Island. The discoveries today follows two recent seizures of the drug in St David's by police - a large haul was collected from a Smith's Hill Drive property at the beginning of this month.Four-foot-tall potted plants were found in a "heavily vegetated" area of St David's a week earlier, on June 27.
