Pacers head to US meet
Bermuda Pacers' Track Club are heading to Russell E Blunt/EastCoast Invitational Track Meet today, the 30th time they have attended the competition.The Island's athletes have been everpresent at the event, which takes place at Duke University in Raleight, North Carolina, and head coach Cal Simons is expecting them to keep up the club's proud tradition of success in the US."I'm expecting the team to do really well," said Simons. "We've trained hard and I expect our athletes to represent the club, themselves and their country with honour."It's a competition we normally do really well in. We've finished in the top 10 in previous years, in an event that sees between 150160 teams taking part."In all Pacers' athletes will compete in 79 individual events, ranging from one of the youngest members of the team, Eze Hart, who will run in the under8s 100 metres race, to Carifta athletes Jumar Mouchette and Kyrah Scraders who are also competing.The meet begins on Friday morning, and concludes on Sunday.Bermuda pacers: Boys: Under8 E Hart, D Powell-Burgess.
