Sam Stan was the top Bermuda sailor as he finished 37th out of 187 boats at the North American Optimist Championships which ended on Wednesday.Competing in 14-20 knot winds, the local contingent suffered four disqualifications as the wind pushed boats towards the course side of the start resulting in a number of them going over the start line early.Michael Barit’s was hit twice, suffering two OCS penalties.Rory Calsin showed progress throughout the regatta, finishing 87th while Barit dropped to 95th after his penalties. Chase Cooper crept up the leaderoard to finish in 169th place.The regatta was won by Alberto Lados of Uruguay.
