Fallen between the cracks
June 22, 2011Dear Sir,Last evening I went out for dinner and had a wonderful view of all the unwashed and unloved citizens of Bermuda walking around by the Ferry Terminal and on the opposite side of the road. This was all in front of the many tourists that flocked the streets. There seems to be an increase in vagrants in Hamilton. The police did arrest one gentleman but he was the best dressed of the lot.Today my husband went down to HSBC Front Street and there he saw a man stretched out on the pavement fast asleep close to HSBC and Calypso.I appreciate that most of these people have social problems, but I could not help but notice the anxious glances from our tourists as they encountered these challenged citizens. Bermuda seems to have a service or charity to cover every calamity known to man. Why have these gentlemen fallen between the cracks?CONCERNEDCity of Hamilton
