Fine for assaulting aunt and sister
A 20-year-old was fined this morning in Magistrates’ Court after he admitted assaulting his aunt and sister.Keiron Spencer pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of acting in a threatening manner. The court heard that at around 5.25pm yesterday, Spencer came to the home he shared with his family and asked his mother for the keys to a motorcycle. She refused because he does not have a drivers license and appeared drunk, causing him to become angry. A fight broke out, in which he injured his aunt and sister, choking one and hitting the other.Appearing in court today, he apologised for wasting the court’s time, saying: “It was just one of them days.”Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner responded: “One of these days I’m going to send you to Westgate.”He fined Spencer $1,000 for each count of assault, offering no additional sentence for the charge of acting in a threatening manner.
