A security guard who punched a woman in the head after slapping her on the rear has appeared in Magistrates’ Court.Stephen Astwood, 29, of Khyber Heights, Warwick, admitted to intruding on the privacy of a woman and assault causing bodily harm.The December 12 incident took place in the courtyard of the Southampton Rangers Sports Club.The court heard that Astwood approached the complainant from behind, smacked her buttocks, and then threatened to hit her with a bottle after the woman and her friend began to argue with him.Astwood then punched the woman in the head, knocking her down. She was taken to hospital with swelling to her head.Arrested and interviewed at Somerset Police Station, Astwood admitted the offence. In court he apologised, saying he had been drinking and just wanted to get the matter over with.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social inquiry report, and remanded Astwood into custody for sentencing on July 9.
