Reclaiming Bermuda
May 3, 2011Dear Sir,Like most residents of Bermuda, I’ve lost patience with the way our community leaders are running their areas of responsibility. Simply put, they either need to do their job effectively, otherwise, they should do the right thing and move over and accept that someone more able should sit in their chair. The range of problems is substantial and, as a taxpayer and therefore as their employer, I want to see this change now. It’s time our community leaders stopped talking about what they are going to do and actually took action to effect positive change. I’m going to list a few initial areas that can be addressed relatively quickly and which in turn will send a first message that the time we’ve spent twiddling our thumbs is over.1. Impound vehicles with illegally tinted windows and fine the owners significant sums of money2. Impound vehicles that are too loud and fine the owners significant sums of money3. Police the Hamilton bus depot and Washington Mall daily with a no-nonsense approach4. Introduce hard labour to the inmates of Westgate5. Reintroduce real discipline throughout the public school systemThese five areas can be addressed quickly and will send an immediate message throughout Bermuda that the good folks of Bermuda are indeed going to reclaim Bermuda.EHTHamilton Parish
