A pair of female Bermuda basketball players will have the chance to showcase their skills at a Women’s NBA training camp with the Phoenix Mercury later this month.This weekend the best local players will be vying to impress Tameka Johnson, a point guard at the Mercury, and Shelly Dailey who are visiting the Island for the Bermuda Gas All-Star Weekend.Over the next few days the pair will put on coaching clinics at several schools, such as CedarBridge Academy and Berkeley Institute, and select the two players who will be flown to Phoenix for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.Johnson, a WNBA champion, said: “Everyone knows that I’m all about providing hope to others, and this is an extension of that.“This is a great opportunity to show others how difficult a road we have to travel to reach our goals. I’m proud to help empower other young women.”Dailey, one of the game’s top coaches and scouts, will be speaking to the Bermuda women’s national team during her visit.The annual Bermuda Gas All-Star Weekend is organised by the Fuzion Athlete Management and S.K.Y Streetball Syndicate.“For me, this is historic,” said Quency Phillips, CEO of Fuzion. “Dreams will become reality for the chosen players.
