Wear some green!
Muppet Kermit the Frog has famously said ‘it ain’t easy being green’.Bermuda National Trust wants young people to try anyway. It’s asking students to wear green tomorrow, and any other day his month, to show their support for the environment. The charity has invited schools across the Island to participate. It is hoped to the move will raise the focus of May as Heritage Month and help students develop an appreciation of the Island’s open spaces.“We would like schoolchildren to wear a green garment to school on Friday or any day in May and visit one of our open spaces during Heritage Month,” said Trust education director Carolyn Conway. “Each school can participate in their own way. We were impressed with the schools that started last year and hope to build on this success.”She said this was a positive and free event, and her organisation hoped that it would encourage people to sustain Bermuda’s precious green spaces by working together. “Remember this is for everyone, forever,” said Mrs Conway.Useful websites: www.cabe.org.uk, www.wearewhatwedo.org, www.renewableworld.org, www.youclimatyourlife.org.
