Sims hits season high

Michael Sims enjoyed his best performance of the season at the Nationwide Tour’s South Georgia Classic, finishing in a tie for 60 after a final round two-over par 73.But he will have left the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta yesterday knowing it could have been a whole lot better.Following a one-under-par 71 on Thursday and a one-over 73 on Friday, he progressed to weekend play by just a single shot at even par. That second round was littered with five bogeys, offset by four birdies on the monster 7,771-yard, par 72 course. And it was that same inconsistency which kept him close to the bottom of the pack throughout Saturday and Sunday. His third round one-over-par 73 included six bogeys and five birdies and his final round yesterday, on the way to his third consecutive 73, he posted four bogeys and three birdies, finishing th event at two-over 290.At Q-School last November, the Bermudian earned limited privileges on the Tour, but so far has played in every tournament.Later this week he’ll be hoping to play four rounds at the Nationwide’s Stadium Cassic at the University of Georgia GC in Athens.
