Man in court charged with assaulting tourists

A Devonshire man was this morning charged in Magistrates' Court in connection with assaulting and attempting to rob two tourists.Omar Young, 37, pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted robbery, one count of unlawful wounding and one count of possessing an offensive weapon, namely a metal pipe.The defendant is accused of accosting two American visitors in the men's restroom in Par-La-Ville park on Saturday, sparking a physical confrontation that left one of the visitors, a 48-year-old, with a cut to his head.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Mr Young until May 23, when he is expected to return to Magistrates' Court for trial.
