New Regiment second in command announced
Governor Sir Richard Gozney this afternoon announced that Major Warren Furbert has been appointed as the Second in Command of the Bermuda Regiment.Major Furbert takes over the position on June 20 following the retirement of Major George Jones, and initially it will be in an acting capacity.Major Furbert joined the Regiment as part of his national service in 1979 and has been part of the full-time staff since 1984.A statement from Government House said: “During his impressive career Major Furbert has held challenging command posts in the Regiment, including Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant, Regimental Sergeant Major, Quartermaster. He is currently the Regiment’s Paymaster.“Major Furbert spent many years as an instructor, designing and delivering training, and spent over a year in the British Army on attachment to the Queen’s Division and the Royal Anglian Regiment. His depth of knowledge of administration and training make him very suitable to become Second in Command of the Bermuda Regiment.”
