2011 Rubber Duck Derby target set at $145,000

Organisers hope to raise more than $145,000 for Agape House with this year’s 15th Annual Rubber Duck Derby.The Duck Derby Race, scheduled for June 5, will this year feature food stalls, games, face painting and live entertainment as part of the fundraiser.The Rubber Duck Derby will begin at 2pm at Ordnance Island, St George’s, with the first race, the Corporate Duck Race, starting at 3pm, with the Youth, Pamper Me and Family races following.Funds raised in the past have been used to fund a full-time chef, a full-time counsellor and an art therapist, as well as a volunteer companion programme, further education for Agape House staff and ongoing infrastructure improvements.Friends of the Hospice, the organisers of the fundraiser alongside major sponsor Belco, thanked the public for their support in raising money for an important cause.Chairman Tim Hunter said: “Friends of Hospice works alongside the staff of Agape House to meet the practical and emotional needs of the patients and their families in any way they can.“We are committed to the belief that we all have the right to pass our final days with dignity, peace and comfort.”Derby tickets are available at Agape House, Belco, Bermuda Gas and Utility and the FC Service Station at Collectors Hill.
