April 11, 2011Dear Sir,I read this morning’s front page article (April 11, 2011) concerning our new National Security Minister’s concept that we can buy back the guns that are now held by the gangs of Bermuda.I really do not think that the gangs are going to give up their lucrative business of renting these handguns among themselves for any price nor are they about to have a ballistics check done on them. This thinking is so obtuse that it scares me to think that the PLP have even considered bringing Mr Perinchief back for this job. He must have reached his conclusion (and Peter Principle) after much deliberation and drew upon his vast recourses as a previous law enforcement officer.No, it just won’t work. Gang legislation would be just another waste of time and resources (and money) that would be totally ignored by anyone belonging to a gang.THE SHADOWPembroke
