Walter Roban named Housing Minister
Minister Walter Roban has taken over responsibility for Housing, following the resignation of former Senator David Burch.Mr Burch, who had been responsible for the Ministry of National Security and Housing, stepped down form Government a week ago.MP Wayne Perinchief replaced him as Minister of National Security.Mr Roban is now responsible for Housing as well as his previous portfolio, the Ministry of Environment Planning and Infrastructure Strategy.Yesterday, Mr Roban told The Royal Gazette: “I am honoured and humbled to be given the opportunity to continue the worthwhile work already completed by my predecessor in supplying affordable housing for our Bermudian citizens.“This Government has always been committed to this goal and I am excited and determined to find further innovative and creative ways to satisfy this very important agenda.“The addition of the Bermuda Housing Corporation to the Ministry of Environment, Planning and Infrastructure Strategy assists with the synergy of all of the departments under the Ministry. It’s a good fit, especially as we look for efficient and lasting ways to deal with Bermuda’s long-term infrastructure requirements in various areas.”
