Government's sports marketing has been cut by $562,000 - and the Minister of Tourism said it may cause some of events to be cancelled.Patrice Minors delivered the Department of Tourism's Budget brief at the House of Assembly this morning when she also revealed that January's air arrivals were up six percent compared to 2010.She said sports marketing was becoming a niche for Bermuda, but that funding had been cut by 22 percent this coming fiscal year. It has been allocated $1.9 million for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. She said: "Some of the events will be scaled back or find other sources of funding or some will be cancelled."It is not that the events are not good enough, but how they compare to others we support."She added the Ministry would provide "in kind" support for the events.Opposition MP Grant Gibbons called out "what events", but Ms Minors did not specify which events could be cancelled.
