Dunch and Smolen lead the way

The 2011 Founders Tournament at the Mid Ocean Club resumes today.Two man teams playing three rounds of better ball and one round using the Pinehurst format began under sunny skies and moderate breezy conditions on Monday.Alan Dunch and his partner from Florida Mike Smolen opened up a three shot lead after posting a nine under par 62. Following close behind are Bostonian Peter Cook and his partner Bob Bantle who hails from Connecticut.In third place and the current defending Champions Bill Lang and his partner Steve Clagett who fired a five under 66. In the gross division Alan Dunch and Mike Smolen also lead on one under 70, Nick Warren and Martyn Warren are only two shots behind. Round two was postponed yesterday and will be played today.It is anticipated that the weather will co-operate and allow for some calmer conditions. There are 29 Teams taking part in this 72 hole Tournament. The Pinehurst format will be played tomorrow.
