'Surprised by the things we found'
Taking pride in one's community is a key aspect of Northlands Primary School's PRIDE Pals led by Barbara Hollis, the school counsellor. The Primary 6 students, with help from supportive parents and a student from T. N. Tatem Middle School, carried out community service on Saturday, September 20 by helping out with the KBB Marine Clean Up. Between 10 a.m. and noon they helped clean the shoreline opposite Terceira's Gas Station on North Shore Road.
Asia Denkins, one of the P6 students participating, "was surprised by the things we found, for example a boat motor, frying pan, spatula, a padlock and key, and a milk crate."
Lukas Cabral observed, "I think this should inspire people not to litter," while fellow student Syruss Williams said, "People should keep Bermuda clean and beautiful."
Stephanie Solis remarked, "I had fun and it was a beautiful day to do it. It taught me how not to litter. I saw a lot of trash and could not believe how people could do that in a park."
