Bermuda has concluded negotiations on a tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) with South Africa.

The announcement came in a ministerial statement in the House of Assembly this morning by Finance Minister Paula Cox.

The agreement will allow Bermuda and South Africa to adopt “measures to further enhance our political and economic relationship, including further clarification of elements of double taxation, discrimination and other undesired tax barriers, and investment protection”, Ms Cox said.

This is Bermuda’s 19th TIEA — the first concluded with a country in Africa,
