Road repairs overdue

PLP MP Dennis Lister has assured constituents the state of the roads was being addressed, but that utility work needed to be completed first.

Mr. Lister, the MP for Sandys North Central, said while out canvassing the main concern expressed was always the state of the roads.

He said: "The surfacing with the roads, it's one of the areas that have not had recent attention. We have been working with Works and Engineering to get in there.

"Before Works and Engineering do the roads they need to make sure there is no need to work on the utilities. It's long overdue. It's been many, many years."

"It's a consistent issue for constituents. It's one of the top priorities — when are we going to get our roads addressed?"

Mr. Lister said the Ministry of Works and Engineering was also working hard on pedestrianising Somerset Road to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

Along with a sidewalk, Somerset Road at the junction of Broome Street and Hook 'n' Ladder, may soon see rumbling strips of the type already featured by Crow Lane and signs warning car drivers to slow down.
