Tropical storm under watch
A tropical storm that has developed 400 miles to the west of the Cape Verde Islands is expected to strengthen and have sustained winds of 60 knots by the middle of next week as as it moves in a westnorthwest direction towards the Caribbean.
Presently Tropical Storm Bertha poses no danger to Bermuda and was 2,000 miles distant from the Island last night, but it is being kept under watch. It's closest approach to the Island within the next 72 hours is predicted to be Monday evening when it will have moved to around 1,000 miles off Bermuda's south east.
The storm is the second named Atlantic storm since the hurricane season began on June 1, and currently has sustained winds of 45 knots (50 miles per hour), with gusts of 55 knots and is moving at a speed of 18 miles per hour.
