Tough times on BSX

Belco Holdings and Butterfield Bank both saw their share prices plummet after a bad day's trading on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

Belco's share value dropped 45 cents (2.09 percent) to $21, with 5,200 shares traded, while Butterfield Bank's stock fell 10 cents (0.58 percent) to close at $16.85, as 32,008 shares changed hands.

The only other trader was Argus Group Holdings, which transacted 4,500 shares, but its share price held firm.

Overall, the Index declined 25.86 points (0.52 percent) to 4,988.19, with 41,708 shares worth $719,531.90 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index also fell 0.52 percent to 4,988.19.
