Four Bermuda martial artists captured five medals at the IAMA Taekwondo World Championships in Michigan last weekend.

The only female on the team, police officer Jenea Saltus, won two golds in the form and fighting divisions.

She wore a pink head guard to promote Bermuda tourism and the Island's upcoming 2011 Bermuda Taekwondo Open.

Bermuda's team almost attained the event's highest honour, the male black belt division's Michigan Cup, but Justin Diamond of the United States, who is also trained by Bermudian Master Edmond Johnson, came out on top.

Jashun Thomas won the silver medal in the Division while Gikai Clarke won bronze for Bermuda.

The youngest member of the team was 16-year-old CedarBridge Academy student Jeral Jackman who bronze in the sparring division.

Leading up to the event, 30 youths selected from around the state attended an Olympic sparring seminar given by Johnson. The seminar also promoted the 2011 Bermuda Taekwondo Open.
