Stafford Flooring goes green
Flooring supplier Stafford Flooring yesterday announced a new green policy, Going Green for Good, aimed at minimising the impact wood flooring has on the environment.
The company is launching a range of new environmetally friendly products, including flooring made from timber grown in sustainably managed forests.
Stafford Flooring president Randy Stafford said: "With growing world-wide concern over global warming and other environmental problems, we are looking to minimise the environmental impact from our business. Our new environmental policy outlines a number of guidelines that work across the products we sell to our customers, including timber, adhesives, resilient products, underlayments, carpet, solid surfaces and our day-to-day business practices.
"The new policy, partnered with the launch of our new line of green products is the start of a new era for Stafford Flooring and we are committed to carrying out this mandate."
Flooring that is produced using timber from managed forests and is Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, will be stocked as part of the new policy, giving consumers a green flooring solution for their home.
The company will only be using and stocking adhesives that contain no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and that meet or exceed the US Green Building Council (USGBC) or the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) standards on VOCs.
Bamboo has already proved popular, Mr. Stafford said. "The product (bamboo) works well in any home as it is cost-effective, easy to install and environmentally friendly. It only takes two to three years for the plant to reach maturity making it one of the most sustainable flooring solutions on the market today. And the finished product looks great," adds Stafford.
