Author to give barefoot clinic
Barefoot runner and author of the best-selling book 'Born to Run', Christopher McDougall, is visiting Bermuda later this week and will give a barefoot training seminar on Friday in the Botanical Gardens.
The American is also the guest speaker at an awards dinner on Saturday evening in the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel.
McDougall is one of the most well-known advocates of barefoot running in the world after researching the subject and travelling to a remote canyon area in Mexico to learn from the Tarahumara Indians, a tribe of people who excel at ultra distance running across rough terrain wearing the most rudimentary footwear.
An in-depth article on McDougall can be found in The Royal Gazette's Lifestyle section today (starting on page 10), which includes details of how to attend the training seminar and awards dinner event.
