Improving Town look to dispatch title rivals Village
Dandy Town midfielder Damon Ming believes his side have what it takes to get past North Village when the two sides lock horns in the match of the round in the FA Cup at Bernard Park tomorrow.
Both sides have been flying high in recent weeks with the pair steadily climbing the league table with an eye on the title.
Ming, who played a major role in his side's 1-1 draw with the Rams in their league clash at the same venue, reckons that should his men continue their rich scoring form the scoreline won't resemble their last encounter.
"The last game between the two sides we missed a lot of chances as well as they did," said Ming. "However, in our last couple of matches we have found the back of the net although we are still missing some good chances, but we are starting to play better and finish off our chances.
"It will be a tough game that may come down to who wants it the most.
"Hopefully, this game won't be any different from our last matches given we have got off to good starts and kept the level up."
Good starts are exactly what they have been getting, scoring five goals inside the first 20 matches of their last three games, a remarkable record considering their plight in front of goal earlier in the season.
With a win over an FA Cup team as strong as Village, confidence would be at a season high heading into the second half of the season.
Admitting that victory would boost such confidence, Ming stated no matter the result, the harmony in the team won't change.
"The match will bring us confidence heading into the new year should we win. But we are just looking to build off of each game and play a little better each game and put away more chances.
"At the moment everyone seems to be on the same page.
"We have players working for one another now and not too much arguing on the field, and if there is, it is followed up by constructive criticism.
"But all in all, we are working for one another because we are a team and want to do well for both ourselves and for the club."
Other Premier Division clubs still in the FA Cup include champions Boulevard who host Wolves at St. John's Field. The match will mark the last game at St. John's for Boulevard who will have BAA Field as their home for the second half of the season.
Devonshire Cougars entertain BAA at Devonshire Rec. while a double-header at Southampton Oval will see PHC take on First Division MR Onions before Southampton Rangers clash with First Division leaders Robin Hood.
Young Men's Social Club's match against X'Roads precedes the game of the day at Bernard Park with Hamilton Parish and St. David's playing at Wellington Oval.
Somerset Eagles meet Ireland Rangers at White Hill Field.
PHC versus MR Onions and Social Club versus X'Roads kick off at 12.30 p.m. All remaining games begin at 2.30 p.m.
