In Saturday's Premier Division clash at Sea Breeze Oval home side Bay comfortably brushed aside visitors Somerset, winning by –84 runs in a contest reduced to 42 overs because of a late start.

It took a spirited knock of 70 by opener Glenn Blakeney to save the day for Bay for whom only two others managed to reach double figures, Jim West contributing 31 and Stephen Outerbridge 11 as Bay's other batsmen struggled to get started.

Young Terryn Fray helped to add stability early when he and Blakeney put on 56 for the opening stand despite scoring just four runs before being dismissed.

Raul Cann and Kamel Easton combined to take six wickets for the visitors, Cann finishing with three for 21 off nine overs with two maidens while Easton took three for 28 off 10 overs with two maidens.

Somerset's fragile batting was exposed by the Bay six-man bowling attack, Khan, Dwight Basden and Jekon Edness the top scorers. Khan hit 20, Basden 16 and Edness 15.

West had astonishing figures off just four balls, finishing with two wickets while conceding no runs at all.

Kyle Hodsoll had two for nine off six overs with two maidens and former Somerset stalwart Wendell White two for 32 off seven overs with a maiden.
