Christian lifestyle coach to speak
Parents will be given advice on how to help ensure their children incorporate Christian life skills into their daily lives at a workshop beginning tonight.
Rev. Barbara Rogers, executive director of Christian Life Skills in Philadelphia, has been brought to the Island by Women Of Vision Empowering Nations (Woven) after much debate about materialism and gang problems.
She will be speaking at Evening Light Pentecostal Church, Parsons Road, tonight, tomorrow night and on Saturday.
The event is free. It begins at 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, and at 10 a.m. on Saturday. For more information, telephone Rev. Lambe on 296-5044."There's a media-driven message that our children are inundated with," Rev. Rogers told The Royal Gazette.
"You do whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like it, with whoever you may be with at that moment. This message has no regard for the community in terms of values. Children need to learn self-discipline."
"I'm hoping that the women in Woven will encourage parents to get a hold of better lifestyles and help young people acquire them so they will feel strong enough spiritually to reject the messages in the media," she said.
