NEW YORK (Bloomberg) — Genworth Financial Inc., MGIC Investment Corp. and Old Republic International Corp. had their mortgage insurance units downgraded by Standard & Poor's on prospects of more homeowner defaults as housing prices decline.
"Our forecast for the peak-to-trough decline in home prices as measured by the S&P Case Shiller index is 30 percent," the ratings firm said on Friday in a statement.
